I would like to be able to do this also. I want something other than the item number in the balloon. I want to have a part number which is assigned. How can the balloon be changed to accomadate this?

Look for thread "Balloon" from
03-11-20.

That thread does not give a complete answer to the problem. I do not want to manually enter stuff into each balloon. That defeats the purpose of the balloon.

I want to be able to choose what field I bring into the balloon. As an example I might want to use materials. Not the item #.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

Did you see Peer's image?

Go to that setting in the IDW standards and you'll be able to choose the
parameter you want.

If you find out how to get the parameter in a circle, let me know.

Have you tried:
Format -> Standards -> Balloon tab
Then for "balloon type" click the property field button. From here you are prompted to select which property fields of the particular part you want the ballon to display. This is how we are currently taging materials in some drawings.

You can use a property field (part number, material, etc) in a sketched symbol. Just draw a bubble (or whatever shape you want) around it. Then, when you insert the sketched symbol with a leader attached and point to a part in your drawing, the text of your selected property field will appear in the sketched symbol and be dynamically linked to that part.

That's what I0ve done, but it implies ballooning 1-by-1 as I stated in
another post.

My ideal scenario would be: balloon with circle and parameter in it AND able
to use auto-ballooning.

Yes I have seen that. But it does not allow me to put a circle around it or a shape of my choice. It also does not allow for a sheet number to be put underneath it.

The flexibility in choosing how you want the bubble to look is not like autocad. Still baffles me how Autodesk can sell a 3D program that is there flagship for 3D and not have the simple commands and choices that they have in autocad. It is obvious that the develpoment departments are not working together and sharing ideas between programs.

If you want the balloon as a circle with a parameter, you can create a
sketched symbol.

Sketch a circle and create a line of text using the model parameter you
want.

Then you can place the symbol as a balloon.

My only problem with this is that you can't use the auto-balloon function.

Your probelm is my problem and many others have this problem also. The balloon information should be able to be whatever field we want in it plus have the autoballooning and not have to do overrides.

I agree with what you say in this post and the other.

I think I'm going to use a sketched symbol for now.
