Creating an object from within another object?

So, I have a complicated part that my teacher is making me draw a rope inside.  I created a sketch inside of the part, which I want to Sweep into the rope.  How could I make the rope a seperate part that I can place in my assembly?

Set the output to New Solid and then push out the part file.

Attach your file here if you can't figure it out.

Attached is the file I'm trying to do this on... It's probably badly made, but it works.

Is that the right part (not complicated geometry - just modeled in a complicated way)?

What happens if you Sweep with the New Solid Option

and then

Manage>Make Components?
