Creating a subassembly within an assembly file

Is it possible to create a subassembly within an assembly file?

In MDT you could just create an empty Subassembly & drag parts into it
within the browser (but this was a different file structure than IV, of
course).

Yes... Create Component in the assembly, and change the component type to
assembly instead of part.

Select the parts in the browser or on the screen. RMB and selct demote.

Oh, Gary, did you mean create a subassembly of parts that are already
inserted into an assembly? If so, Kathy's right on the money.

When you do this, Inventor will maintain the constraints applied between the
parts being demoted, but you'll lose any constraint between a demoted part
and a non-demoted part.

Yes..I intended to convert the existing parts in the browser. Now I know
what demoting is about. Great! I am much happier now.
Thanks
