Can you attach the ipt file (of something similar if proprietary) or at least a picture?
Not sure what a "general point" is, you will probably want a sketch Center Point.

Go to the Windows Start globe in lower left corner of screen.
Click on it and the type Snip, select the Snipping tool and use it to snip a screen capture, save and attach here.

Hi austonwerner,
Are you creating a plane tangent to the curved face as discussed at this link:
If so, then you should be able to sketch on that plane and create the hole center point.
