Creating a Hole on an Extruded Side

I'm making a throttle body spacer in 2013
For some reason I can't get a hole made on the side of the extruded side.
I place a general point on a new 2d sketch and no luck.
Any ideas.

Can you attach the ipt file (of something similar if proprietary) or at least a picture?

Not sure what a "general point" is, you will probably want a sketch Center Point.

Have you gone through the tutorials?

#1. doesn't look like anything proprietary in that, why not post ipt file?

#2. You can attach images directly here.

Go to the Windows Start globe in lower left corner of screen.

Click on it and the type Snip, select the Snipping tool and use it to snip a screen capture, save and attach here.

Hi  austonwerner,

Are you creating a plane tangent to the curved face as discussed at this link:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-General/help-placing-a-hole-in-the-outside-of-a-curved-surfac...

If so, then you should be able to sketch on that plane and create the hole center point.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

If I send the file to someone could they put in the desired hole. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

I already did it for you  (see the attachment to post #5).

Simply edit the dimensions to whatever you need.

I recommend you go through these
