Countour Flange loop

I posted a file to IVCF that is just a simple contour flange. Can anyone figure out why I
can't increase the angle on the loop any farther? I know I can do this other ways, but
it sure seems to me this should work?

Yeah ... know what you mean. Inventor has always had that touch-me-not
complex that's really more like a don't-even-get-close-to-me complex. You
can make the cut end touch in the shop, but not in Inventor, it seems. Off
to the wish list again!

Interesting. You can reverse the offset and increase the angle.

For some reason it is getting confused when the offset is towards the
outside. If you change the radius to .25 + Thickness and offset it towards
the inside, you can increase the angle until it touches.

I'm working on a project that hasn't required that much SM in R8, did you
guys fix the touch-me-not complex when you were working on the lofts, maybe
... well ... except for this case that works on one side maybe?

Kent,

I haven't looked at your file but by the description of it, it is the same as a bug I had logged about a month ago. I was making a hinge, I couldn't close the gap more than a sheet metal thickness because IV got confused on which way it was thickening things.

Maybe this can hlep show my gratitude to those at Autodesk who have helped me with bug submissions or just plain putting up with me 🙂
