Hi, I am building an cip tank. Revolved a ramp. Sketched 2 circles and extruded to have a foot. Would extrude to the outside of the ramp, not through the ramp. How could I extrude it to the outside? I've looked and tried many times, but this problem drives me crazy Regards, Dirk

The image files you attached are huge. I recommend using *.png file type.
If you go to the Windows Start globe in lower left corner of screen and start typing Snip... you should get the Windows Snipping tool for doing screen captures.
It appears that you are doing adaptive parts in an assembly.
I recommend that beginners stay away from adaptive parts until they have more experience and are therefore no longer beginners.
I recommend that you do this design as multi-body solids within a single part file and then "push" out the individual part and assembly.
A second alternative is master modeling technique utilizing Derived Components.
Attach your assembly here for alternative options.
Respond with urls and/or pictures of a finished assembly similar to what you are trying to design.
Indicate how much training/experience you have with Inventor.
Indicate what version of Inventor you are using.

Thanks for answering.
I'm just a beginner. I've experience with Autocad for 5 years and started with Inventor. The most dificult is that inventor works so different compared with autocad.
I' ve drawed with more parts because I don't want to change the BOM afterwards, but as you described is this maybe a to strong learning curve.

An assembly file (*.iam) is only a list of hyperlinks to the part files (*.ipt) and a record of assembly constraints (and a bit more).
You must include the part files.

There is no grounded part in your assembly?
The parts are not fully constrained in relative position to each other.
For a beginner it would be easier to create and control this as multi-body solids rather than as Adaptive parts,
but
if you want to do this way,
Establish grounded reference part
Fully constrain positions
Edit part in the context of the assembly and Project Geometry or Copy Object from reference part into part being edited.

I've struggled with it for a few hours, but the result is here...
I've did it as follow...
* extrude one foot to the desired length.
* copy object -face - create new surface
* split - trim solid
Now I'm curious if you referred to this as a solution, this is the best way? (I know, there are many roads to Rome 😉 )
