copy vs rename

I'm creating a new idw for a new top assy and ipn for a new product off of
an old product. Using design assistant to create the new files. Most of the
time I would do a rename to new directory, but I stated thinking about it
today. What is the advantage or disadvantage of using rename over copying to
the new directory. I'm still referencing most of the lower sub assy's and
parts back to the original assy and dir. Just seeing if there is a smarter
way to work it.

Rename a file to a new location and DA will perform a move function. If you
want the original to be retained then do a copy and rename to a new location.
