Copy sheets from one IDW to another

I thought I had successfully done this before,
but maybe not.

I've created a fairly sizable piece of equipment
(45289 instances).  I generated shop details in one IDW file which
consists of 11 sheets, then for computer performance reasons, arrangement views
in another IDW file which consists of 4 sheets.  Now that I'm done, I want
to put these two IDW files together, essentially cutting-and-pasting the four
sheets of arrangements into the other IDW.

The arrangement views on sheets 2 through 4 are
sections and details generated from the views on sheet 1.  I can't copy
sheets 2 through 4 because the views on those sheets are generated from views on
sheet 1, and an error message appears, saying that the section view (or detail
view, etc.) cannot be copied without it's parent.  Ok, fair enough, that
makes sense, I guess.  If I copy sheet 1 by itself first, it loses its
references to the other views on the other sheets (i.e., the section view marks
are gone and the browser does not show any sections cut from any of the
views).  Attempting to copy all four sheets at once yields the same problem
as copying sheet 1 by itself.

I *guess* I could move all the views from sheets
2 through 4 to sheet 1 (even though they obviously would NOT physically fit
on one sheet), copy just sheet 1 to the other IDW file, then create three more
sheets and move the views back.  The drawback to this is that it would take
an agonizingly long time.

Are there any other ways?  And please
refrain from posting "why do you want a 15-sheet IDW file" and "one detail, one
sheet, one IDW" comments - we've used multiple-sheet IDWs for years now without
issues.

I should have mentioned that I'm using AIP2009,
though I doubt it matters.

Brian,

Could you post or send me directly (
href="mailto:matt.smith@autodesk.com">matt.smith@autodesk.com
) the necessary
files so I can try it out and see what is going on?  And what happened to
your signature line?

- Matt

Thanks for your reply, Matthew, but I already
used my own suggestion in the OP and moved everything on sheets 2 through 4
to sheet 1, copied sheet 1 to the other IDW, then moved the views back to their
own sheets.  It took me about three hours.

I'm not able to share these files, and even if I
were, it would be quite a sizable data transfer - the dataset (uncompressed) is
104MB.  With the speed of our internet connection here, I honestly think it
would take me less time to burn them to a DVD and drive to Novi (or Tualatin;
wherever you are) to hand-deliver it.
