Does anybody know of a program that will convert splines to polylines cleanly or has experienced the problem below?
We need polylines for waterjet cutting.
Using the polyline conversion in Autocad leaves us with highly complex jagged lines on the curves which crashes the waterjet machine.
We don't need a perfect conversion, just a very close smooth representation using arcs.
The main problem we have is with Sign Pro Flexi.
We use this program to convert clients spline artwork (usually supplied as EPS) to polylines
When we export to DXF to convert the splines to polylines, AutoCAD is unable to open the DXF and gives the error:
Table name missing on line 38.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
We don't know how to fix this. This problem didn't exist until we ungraded to a newer flexi program. The older one doesn't run on Windows 7.
I am running Flexi 8.0 v2
Autocad 2014

Is this an AutoCAD question or an Inventor question?

Are you creating these dwg from Inventor sheet metal environment?
(there might be a solution that does not involve AutoCAD)

No, the information comes from an EPS usually.
The information was usually created by a graphic design company for use on letterheads and such.
We want the polyline artwork to both use in AutoCAD for manufacturing drawings, but also to send for waterjet.
