convert to stp step iges igs

---- convert to stp step iges igs (mac- rapid prototyping) -----

i wonder if there is any free, "easy to handle" mac based converter

to convert e.g.

stl, dwg, dxf, 3ds, fbx, wrl, dae files

to

.stp .step .iges .igs files

"something like" babel3d

or

even a pay-per-conversion service;

i am working in cinema4d, trying to

prototype 3d files,

already succeeded in generating

.stl files via "netfabb"

but

some 3d printers require .igs files

and i would like to avoid spending

a lot of money for highly capable

but not necessary conversion software

Any advice/link/comment is highly appreciated,

best regards!

stl conversion to other filetypes is often a problem.

For other conversions you can use free Inventor Fusion

Your post is somewhat old, but I tried to get at Inventor Fusion and even signed up for an account through the link.  However, I cannot find anything that related to conversion software of any kind there.  Help?

Inventor Fusion has been discontinued.

I recommend you look into Fusion 360 instead.

Okay, I have downloaded Inventor 360 trial and uploaded my IGS file.  I can view the file and I can manipulate it in space.  Can I store as a .DWG file?

hi amvolk,

There is a 25$ viewer/converter

from

Afanche Technologies

importing/exporting stl, dae, dxf, obj, vrml, ply, off formats:

- mac osx desktop version via mac app store: "CADViewer3D"

- iPhone, iPad, Android: "ATView3D"

i use it for small and medium sized files

& am happy with it;

i have heard that one may use "Grabcad"'s online

browser version for converting cad files,

but do not know if that refers to the pay-membership

of "Grabcad" (but you may meet a lot of very skilled CAD pro's & amateurs

on there who might provide helpful information on any

cad related subject matter for free ...)

hope it helps for a start ....

best regards!

I have never heard of Inventor 360.

Did you really mean Fusion 360?

Okay.  I found something called A360 and uploaded an IGS file to that and could view it, but not inspect it (i.e. measure it).  I finally got Fusion 360 Ultimate working as a trial on my desktop, but so far haven't been able to upload or import or whatever my IGS file to it.  Now what?

Also, by poking around I found "my first design" on the A360, viewed it, copied it to Samples, and tried to make it a Fusion design. All the uploads and this conversion to Fusion design failed.

The Fusion 360 forum is over here http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/general-fusion-360-questions/bd-p/124

I recommed that you post your question there.

It will probably help if you can zip and attach the file there as well.
