Convert Conical Spiral Trace to a Flat pattern

I have 2 Conical Spriral Traces on a cone.

See Attachement.

If possible I need to Create a 2d Planar Flat Pattern based on 3d Traces.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

As sheet metal does not support multiple solid body, we should suppress the solid first and copy the face of conical spiral you provided using Copy Object. And we can use lofted flange with the project profile from copied face to create conical sheet metal face, then use thicken the copied face using Intersect option to get the conical spiral trace. Now the flat pattern can be created.

Additional comments -

There is only derived part provided but not base part. If we don't want to use copy object and make the sheet metal conical spiral associative with base part, we can use the derived surface to take the downstream workflow.

The attached part is using lofted flange to accomplish this on R2011, and it is helpful for you.

Thanks,

River

Hello River,

Thanks a bunch for your help.

What you did worked great.

I was able to re-create what you did, so I will know how to do it in the future.

Thanks Again

P. Brooke
