Content Center naming of components

Hello , I am running Inventor 2013 Product Design Suite. I do not use Vault and was wondering if there was a way so that when I insert a screw from the Content Center, that it will come in with a description that I assign?

You would have to publish your own CC to get that. The closest you can get is to use the custom option that will allow you to save it to a filename and location of your choice.

This can be done without requiring you to publish a custom component.

1. Create a Read-Write Content Center Library.

2. Use the Content Center Editor to copy the fastener or other component from the Read-Only Library to your Read-Write Library.

3. Once copied, edit the component's Family Table to modify properties such as Filename, Part Number, Description, etc.

4. Save and close the Editor.

5. Be certain the Project is configured to use the new Read-Write Library.

6. Create assembly and place your component from Content Center.

If you have assemblies already using the original component, use the Refresh tool to update or use the Replace from Content Center tool.

There are a number of documents on-line that provide more detailed steps.
