Content Center Dialog does not work.

Hi!

I`ve reinstalled my OS (windows 7 64bit) recently and installed Inventor 2014 en. After this I can`t use Content Center files. After clicking on the "Place from Content Center" button - nothing chappens. I`ve reinstalled the Inventor, installed SP1 - still the same. Does anyone has any idea what is wrong? I`m using Single User Priject, whole Content Center libraries are installed (I`ve checked it).

Before OS reinstallation everything was correct.

Please help 🙂

thanks a lot,

Marcin

Marcin,
Welcome to the forum.

For starters go to the tools>addins and see if you have it activated.

Hi amcik,

It could be that the Content Center dialog box is coming up off screen. This often happens when a configuration for dual monitors has changed. To see if this is the issue see this link:

http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com/2011/01/missing-dialog-box.html

I hope this helps.

My CC is loaded local:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Libraries\Content Center\Content Center\Libraries

The same path is used in Project:

Try going to control panel>add/remove programs and do a repair on the install and see if that does anything.

Hi amcik,

If you go to the Tools tab > Applciation Options button > Content Center and look at the path for the CC libraries, and then browse to that location, do you see the *.idcl files?

If so, when you click the Configure Content Center button in the project editor, do you see the libraries loaded and avaialble (or whatever the status is called)?

Hi Cadmanto,

Just FYI, that thread is from 2005, which would predate the Desktop Content Center. Meaning that at that time the CC Libraries were installed on the ADMS  (Vault server). My understanding / assumption is that amcik is working with the Desktop Content Center, therefor none of the SQL related information will apply.

Hi amcik,

Looking back at your screen shots, I'm not sure in your project file looks correct to me. It looks like you have the CC file store path mapped to the CC library path. I would check to see what you have the CC Library path under Application Options (see my last post). It might be possible you have these paths reversed?

So just to review, Content Center  basically has two parts to it:

  1. The CC libraries - these are the "recipes" for all the parts. Basically just a bunch of tables with dimension information. The path to these are set in the Application Options and configured using the button on the right in the Project dialog box.
  2. The CC Files - These are a collection of Inventor part files (*.ipt) that are generated from the CC Libraries and used in your assemblies. The path to these files can be in two places:

a) Tools tab > Application Options button > File tab > Default Content Center files area.

b) The Project editor > Folder Options > Content Center Files path

b overrides a, if it is set

I hope this helps.

The problem is... that when I click on the Configure Content Center Libraries in the Projects dialog box... nothing chappens :-(. The Configure Libraries box does not appear... The same situations as with using CC.....

Thanks Curtis, I did not know that.  Trully the deeper realms of Inventor I have not reached yet.

You do make a good point about the OP's pathing.  Mine in the project file says "Default" where as his says

path.jpg

which looks strange to me.  Almost looks modified.  Which speaks to what you asked about having them switched between the application options and the project file.  I like you question this directory structure between the two in the OP's system.

Mine accepting all of the default locations upon install looks like this.

path2.jpg

Amcik,

So you cannot see this dialog window.

libraries.jpg

Try going to this folder in Windows Explorer and see if there are any libraries loaded.

Hi amcik,

So the only thing that I'm still unsure of is what you have set at Tools tab > Applciation Options button > Content Center tab. Have you double checked to ensure that the Desktop Content option is selected? And not the Vault option?

Past that I'm not sure what the issue would be.

I hope this helps.

Hi amcik,

So everything looks good, other than the CC files path in the project editor. As I mentioned in post 13, the path in your project file is not set correctly. It should not be set to the same path as the libraries. I'm not sure if setting it the same would cause the issue you're seeing, but it is one more thing to rule out. I would try setting the Content Center Files path in the Project > Folder Options to some other path, just to see.

Also, you might try setting the tutorial files project active rather than the Default project (we typically never suggest working with the Default project).

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I`ve done what you has suggested:

- I`ve changed the directory in Project > Folder Options,

-I`ve changed the Project to Tutorial Files.

Still the same problem.

Maybe the problem is deeper? I meen: shoudn`t the dialog box of Content Center appear even when the directory with libraries would be empty?

Marcin

(sorry for my English... I hope you understand me correctly).

Hi amcik,

Okay, so I think at this point we can say that it is not an issue with your Content Center setup.

And I think that you are correct in thinking the problem is deeper. Unfortunately, I'm out of suggestions other than to ask if you have installed all of the latest service packs and hotfixes?
