direction. Now put a axis through the planes (it's now perp to your
surface). Now mate-mate the axis to the shafts.
When I draw the slot I usually have some type of point in the center of the sketch I extruded. A workpoint or the end of a construction line. After I extrude the slot I turn the sketch visibility on and create a work axis by selecting the sketch plane and then my center of the slot (the 2D sketch point).
