Constraining to a random path

My goal is to let some wheels roll in a path which excist from 2 straight paths and a corner.

I can constrain them to 1 path at a time but not to all of them so my wheel makes a corner. I

You can find the guiderail as attachment. There is a path in the sketch from which i sweeped my form but he divides it in the 3 parts so i can't constrain the center point of my wheel to this path...

Can someone help me and give me some help.

Thanks a lot

Use Transitional constraint - not tangent.

I didn't see a wheel part file or an assembly file to demonstrate.

this is a wheel. But there need to beseveral wheels roll in this guide rail an they are attached to each other by a steel cable (the test assembly is without the attachement).

I've tried to work with the transitional but when all the wheels were constrained, he gave an error so nothing could move anymore..

Thanks for the fast reply

You will need to add assembly constraints.

"when all the wheels were constrained"

I don't see any constraints.

This is a test part of my full project so far. The names are in Dutch but you'll understand it right away because it's quite easy.

My problem is still the same. Letting the wheels roll inside the guide rail. There are only 2 now but in the end there will be 8 at each side so multiple panels can move like a sectional port at your garage.

Thanks by advance for your time.

The track isn't grounded.

The wheels aren't constrained to the track.

A continuous surface can ge created through a trick of Delete face and then Patch (Boundary Patch).

But I think I would use Dynamic Simulation enviroment for this instead (works much better for motion like this).

To continue a discussion simply respond - bump.

To solve the problem - I recommend you concentrate on one panel at a time.  After you get the first one working (in DS) the rest will be easy.

There is no clearance between the wheels and the guidrail - both are 50mm?

Yeah, I would normally change that but i first wont to know that its works like this

Here is a trick to create a continuous surface with no seams.

When I try to constrain my wheel to your surface, it just blocks everything...

Can you show me how to constrain 1 panel to such a surface (without having trouble)?

Thanks a lot!!

JD,

Just downloaded your sample model and configured for my application, non-linear door track.

Dropped it in the assembly and constrained to the cam follower, works great!

Thank you for the contribution,

Dave

Funny thing is - you found a thread from Oct of 2012 and today my lecture in class is the same topic.
