How does one constrain a sketched lin in the sketcher to a datum plane?

Use Project Geometry in the sketcher, select the datum plane. That brings it in to your sketch. Then constrain your sketch lines to it.

Being new to Inventor, what do you mean by "Project Geometry" are you talking about construction lines?
My thinking is that I should be able to select my construction line or center line then select the plane and hit coincident
and the two snap together, but that is not what happens.
While in sketch mode there is a Project Geometry icon (have you used other parametric software like SWx or Pro/E so that I can use similar terms to those).
Inventor is not aware of any geometry that hasn't been created by you in the sketch or projected into the sketch.

Sorry, I had a screenshot... I posted it in your other thread, since the topic was similar.
Thanks JD.

Yes, I am very familiar with Solidworks.
I am generally struggling with how the contraints work in Inventor.
I get them to work sometimes and not at other times.
In Solidworks I am used to creating construction or centerlines
then selecting the ones you want constrained and selecting the constraint
and the two snap together.
