Constant force spring (tape measure type)

I have a new project where we are utilizing constant force springs (a thing coil of steel similar to a tape measurer) to close the blade of a damper and I have no idea where to even start modeling one.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like two coils and a straight extrusion to me, assuming you want to model the actual spring blade.  Is there some reason a pair of disks and a thin blade between won't suffice?

Not sure if that would work for a positional representation...I could model the spring like that for the closed position and just turn it off for the open position I guess.

Would probably have to be turned off for any animations too.

Spiral Coil a line as a surface and then Thicken.

add additional sketch geometry as needed.  Animate Parameter for motion of spring.  (give a parameter name to the Pitch as well so that it can be animated)

You didn't indicate Inventor version - or I could have posted an example ipt file.

Animate Pitch.png

Image shows Studio increase Pitch between 0 and 1 sec, decrease pitch between 1 and 2 sec.

Hey,

I am also trying to build a constant force spring on either Autocad, Solidworks or Catia and also simulate the dischrage of that spring after a full winding. Could any one help with instructions or any kind of tutorials? Thanks

örneğin etiket rulosunun bir kasnak etrafında sarılı iken düz bir yol izleyerek çözülme montajını nasıl yaparım?
