Concrete material?

Does anyone know if Autodesk has done anything to create a concrete material? What about a concrete hatch pattern?

(I requested this over 2 years ago and thought I would check in to see if anything has been done.)

We now have a concrete hatch pattern, along with several other useful
"archy" style hatches. They are not active by default, but you can easily
make them available by checking them in the drawing styles editor for
hatches. I dont remember seeing a concrete material. I wouldn't think it
would be too hard to create one, although I've never tried.

Cheers,
Walt

What about sand? or grout? (similar to AR-Sand hatch pattern in AutoCAD)

Here are the hatches that are available in the ANSI hatch style list...

With respect to hatch patterns, I assume that Walt got you going down the
right path.

With respect to the materials themselves, the materials we ship are
basically just examples. The material style is pretty flexible, go ahead
and set up your own. You probably know the concrete specs better than I do,
but you might try these resources:

http://www.matweb.com/index.asp
http://www.efunda.com/home.cfm

Honestly, I'm surprised that one of your web-savvy peers (Kent or Sean or
Charles), hasn't provided a sharing mechanism for materials (and other
styles) since the R9 styles overhaul. XML makes them pretty portable.
Maybe somebody already has, and I'm just not looking in the right places.

Hope that helps,

Thought about it. Then realized no one would pay a measly $20 for it.
Decided against it.

I think Autodesk should get together with Matweb and have materials posted
(with the correct colors) in downloadable Inventor foramt. SW has this.

I am surprised that AUTODESK hasn't taken some of the thousands of
dollars every seat of Iv is getting them and set up their own sharing
mechanism. The good hearted given lads like Kent Sean and Charles have
already done far more than Autodesk when it comes to giving back to the
IV community. (no offense to your comment Andrew just speaking in general)

Well AutoCAD doesn't have materials so the marketing folks will see no
reason to add it [gd&r]

None taken. I don't disagree at all, but those decisions happen way over my
head.

You guys have set up a nice model sharing community, I'm not sure how style
XMLs is any different.

I don't think that its not that they can't do it, I think that it is
more like...well how much free stuff can one man do? I think it just
boils down to free time and money (which are sometimes one in the same)

Bingo! No good deed goes unpunished. Go ahead an guess how much money in
7+ years I have gotten from "donations" for my free tutorials and add-ins.

If you guess above $400 you're guessing high.
