Computers

Still struggling with a large(?) assembly

20 seconds plus to apply a constraint, delete a part, etc.

Thinking it may be something with the OS

675 occurances / 80 parts

The assembly itself is 950KB

Size of the project is around 110MB

Is this sort of lag expected?

Inventor 2008

Windows XP

Intel Pent. 4 CPU 3.2 GHz

3.19GHz, 3.25GB Ram

Yes with a 32 bit OS and its memory limits that is expected depending on your model.

People that haven't switched to a 64 bit OS are really wasting company time/money IMO.

Wanna share the exact specs you are looking at as M6600 comes with many options.. I left my mind reading hat in the car.

Must you get a laptop?

I travel enough that without a laptop is getting redicilous

Is the 64 bit that major thing?

Our IT guy doubles the video card requirement from autodesk. No clue why

It could have a lot to do with the assembly construction as well.
All it takes is one little mistake...

...anyone have a link to Walt Jaquith's "house of cards" essay?

YES..YES..YES because you can load that computer with TONS more RAM. Which Inventor loves to eat... 🙂

So a 64 bit OS, 6 or more Gigs of RAM, decent Directx11 gaming graphics card (with 1G min onboard video ram), and fast hard drives makes Inventor happy again.
