compressing constraints

Hello to all,

I would like to kown if inventor can cope with compressed parts, i.e. I have
a sponge washer that is compressed by 1mm (3mm down to 2mm) I want to draw
the 2D drawing showing a 3mm washer but at the moment I have to draw a 2mm
thick washer. Can I get inventor to do anything of the sort?

Philippe,

You could - I believe - use adaptivity to control this. Create the washer in
the context of the Assembly, and instead of giving the washer a blind
thickness, use the To option and select the face of the opposing part. Then
use a mate constraint with an offset between the two components to drive the
thickness of the Washer.

Hope that helps,

Hate to say it, but I think I read where that SW or SE can assign a
"rubber" material and obtain the functionality you seek.
