combining models

Hi,

I regularly generate models which have a front end (body) of a known shape but differing in size, to a back end (shank) again of a known shape but differing size.

So, is it possible to take pre-drawn blanks of both front end (body) and back end (shank) to join them up to create a new model/part?

i'm assuming it's combine bodies but I'm not sure how it works!! (I think it's something to do with my age!!)

How about using iFeatures?

Or you can derive parts into a part file and then combine them with more features. It is possible to unlink the parts if you don't want to maintain the link to the original file.

Hello Again,

I've sorted it.....Last Friday I locked the door, turned the phone off and just played with it until i got it to work.

No distractions = solution.

Reading the help menu sometimes assumes you know too much. i've had very little formal training with Inventor so trying to interpret what is written down to what I see on the screen is an issue.

many thanks for your help!!
