Colors in top level assembly

I have a sub assembly with frame members and have used diferent colors for different sizes.  In the top level assembly all the colors are lost, presumably because it defauts back to material color.  Is there a way to get the frame  member colors to display and all assembly levels?

For some reason, Frame members get their colour assigned at the frame-assembly level, not at the part level - so controlling them becomes a pain in the .... It seems an odd way to handle colours, especially when you are prompted for the colour at the time you place each member. In your case, does this fix the problem: Right-click the top-level assemblies current view rep and select "remove colour overrides".
