Color of part in assembly will not change

My part color is yellow.

In the assembly It shows as gray.

I cant seem to get it to change to match the part color. I used to know why this happens and knew how to fix it but seem to have forgot.

How do you get this to work?

I also recently loaded 2014, but had the same problem with 2013, so its not a release issue.

Is the part imported or a derived part?  Can you post the part?

 

It it is neither and you just want to change the color of the part in the iam, then go in the iam and select the part.  Now go to the appearance window in the QAT at the top and select the color that you want.

If you want to change the color of the part itself.  Open the part and in the QAT, select the new color.

Thanks that was easy. Fixed.

I changed the part color in the IPT file and assumed it should update automatically.

The part color will update in the iam "IF" there is not an over-ride applied to it in the iam.  To remove the over-ride that you just applied, in the iam, select the part, then in the the QAT, choose clear overrides (its at the very top).

 

Now the color of the part at the assembly level will be the same as the color at part level.

 

It all depends on what you want to do.
