color issue when importing inventor equipment to inventor

i am having a problem when i import inventor made equipment into plant 3D. The equipment will not take on the color of any layer i put it on , nor can I change it manually in properties. We color code our equipment for phasing purposed and this causes a real problem. The layer color will only work in wireframe . in shaded view it will only change the edges of the equipment. If I change the visual style manager to not show material it will show the true color but make the plant 3D model colors different. Any Ideas i have included a picture of what i am talking about.
