COG Changes once Assembly is Derived

Came across a strange one today. I have been given an assembly and I need to create a frame for it. I just wanted it as one thing so I have derived the assembly into a part which worked fine however I have noticed the COG changes once it is derived. Any thoughts why this would happen?

I think that's because derived comes as one body, constant density, and in the assembly you had different materials on each part.

Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Annoying as I dont want to have to have all the parts in my assembly and in the Vault as they are named "part1, part2 etc"

Now one way to solve this would be if it were possible to overrite the COG but after a lot of searching this is not possible.
