cnc software

Hello everyone, I would like to know what cnc software you are using and how happy you are with it, any issues you are having, how complex are the parts you are maching, etc. We are currently using Edgecam and have been having an issue with minute grooving on lofted surfaces only. Still trying to get it figured out, and we are currently leaning toward the machining software as the culprit, but still not sure yet. I am not looking for a flame session on cnc software, just honest input on different software. Thanks in advance

Have you talked to EdgeCAM  support regarding this? Can
you post the part, zipped? It might be the part.

Dennis, here is the lofted body. You will see that the short ends are flat, the long sides are not. The long sides are where we are having the minute grooving issues. Yes our CNC manager has talked to Edgecam support, the last I knew he was still waiting on a response. Do you have access to machining software?

edgecam mentions a parallel lace function that supposedly improves surface finish..are you using that?

Also are these gouges in a typical pattern along the surface or more random? Are you using carbibe tools? Machining too fast causing chatter/tool deflection?

Feed rate 60 in min, using CBN inserts and carbide ball end mills, .005 depth of cut, .008 width of cut, cusp height .0001, tool deflection expected to be minimal at this depth of cut ( any comments accepted on deflection issue) grooves are random, not sure about parallel lace, cnc manager will look into it. Thanks
