Circle loses endpoint constraints??

I've posted a file in IV files under same topic.

I have an extrusion that I want to perform a simple cut on. Extrusion 2 is
basically a circle that I placed at an intersection of 2 lines using the
green blob. When placed and dimensioned the circle etc goes black i.e.
fully constrained. I then turn this into a cut. Then edit the sketch again
and you will see that the centre is no longer constrained - the circle is
free to move. If you edit Extrusion1 you will see that the circle is no
longer constrained. The only workaround is to place 2 co-incident
constraints to the 2 lines. This definitely worked OK in R6 SP2.

Cheers,

Rob

When I open the file and edit Sketch3 there is no projected lines or points that I can
see. If I project one of the lines and drag the circle to the endpoint it becomes
constrained and seems to stay that way.

Kent,
Have you tried then going back into the sketch and seeing if the circle
centre is still constrained. Unless I explicitly constrain the centre to
both lines the circle will remain unconstrained. Before I would just pick
the circle tool click on the intersection and then the circle would remain
constrained even if the preceding sketch was altered.

Yep you're right Kent,
I hadn't got the "Autoproject edges during curve creation" ticked just
"Automatic reference edges for new sketch" ticked. It looks exactly the
same but the "Automatic reference edges" are obviously just for show they
are not actually projected geometry. What are they for??
I reckon I'll turn that one off!!!

Something has definitely altered though between R6SP2 and R7 I'm sure that
it used to work as I originally described (haven't got R6 on any more so
can't try it). I'm sure that I hadn't altered those settings.

Have been playing a bit more. The automatic reference edges are just not
working at all. I also used this method before, now I'll have to use the
project geometry to ensure the model performs as I expect.

It was still constrained when I went back into the sketch a second time.

I always run with Autoproject edges checked and Automatic reference unchecked. Just what
seems to work out best for me. 8^)

Thanks Kent,
I'll try that combination from now on. But it did used to work as I
described. When initially selecting a face to sketch on the edges would be
projected and I would use them to reference other geometry off of. Perhaps
someone has decided that it was broken before and now it's been fixed -
(like the shaded view lineweight thing!!)

Rob,

You are right. It did work in R6Sp2. I have logged a defect against this
issue. Thanks for pointing out the defect.

I logged a defect against this. There shouldn't be a behavioral difference
between edges projected during sketch creation and those created afterwards.

Thanks Loren,
Thought I was going a bit mad there yesterday!!
