checking deflection

I only have inventor08 not the pro. My boss was asking me what I would need
to be able to calculate deflection of a plate supported on two ends?
any suggestions?

A FEA package/upgrade to pro or get out the calculator and figure it out.

You need Inventor Professional or Inventor for Simulation to do an in depth analysis on the plate. There is a Plate Calculator in the Design Accelerators though that might prove useful to you (It is nested under Beam and Column)

Other than that get out the Statics book 🙂
