Check In without opening files?

Is it possible to check in files without opening then up? Can it be done
using Design Assistant or any other package?
Maybe having this option would make it too dangerous for overwriting files
etc??
Surely it could be done from the Inventor file open screen or something?
It just seems lot a lot of work to open a layout assembly just to be able to
check the files in!

I've never run across a way to do this.
