check in and out

Why... does is "file status" menu available sometimes... not all the time. I have a migrated assembly that i cannot edit in DA because parts are "unavailable". But i cannot change that in IV6. Help

In IV, open file, select "file status", RMB on part, select "resolve",
select either "steal checkout" or "Cancel checkout", this should solve
the issue.

Make sure that the project has the correct multi
user setting.

Good shot Kathy, took me a bit but i got there. Only thing is... if the project is set to shared, when i want to migrate parts in that project - it will not let me while it is a shared project. I guess i need to examine my order of operations for migrating.
Thanx all.

That's correct, for migration the multi-user must be set to off. If you
are using a shred environment in R5 or R5.3, make sure all files are
available. We had a few that were still checked out and we had to
manually steal the check out and then migrate.
