changing the "pinned" part

does anyone know how to change the part that has the pushpin icon on it? i need to change the static part in my assembly.

Hi ben123324,

 

If you go to the Assemble tab and use the Replace button, you can choose a file to replace the grounded part with. Keep in mind that you might need to repair some assembly constraints, depending upon your particular geometry.

Also if you just want to change which part has the pin in it, i.e.. grounded.

Right click on the part you want to stick the pin in and select grounded.

Then right click on the original part and deselect the grounded option.

 

You can ground all the parts if you wish but then constraints will not work.

If no parts are grounded then the assembly can become unstable.

If parts fly off with no grounding you can constrain one part to the assembly origin workplanes then ground to hold in place.

Constraining a placed assembly to the origin workplanes will allow it to remain flexible but held in place without grounding if necessary.
