Changing the Inventor Interface

 When I boot Inventor 2015 I get this screen display.

Can I get rid of, or at least minimize, the gray block on the left?

That holds the answer. 

 

To clarify, from trying this out, :

1. Uncheck "Startup Action", then

2. Check "Show MyHome on startup"

 

Then it works.  Having both checked (understandably) confuses Inventor.
