Changing Materials in Iparts

I downloaded the O-rings from CBliss.
Nice job.
I want to add a few choices for materials.
Silicone, VITON, EPDM, etc.
I tried to do it several different ways in the file and in the table and
spreadsheet but with no luck.
Any help wouild be appreciated.

Thanks

Have you added a new column in you spreadsheet, by using the ipart author. (properties page and then physical -> material) When the column is inserted in the small spreadsheet bellow go to the header of the column and RMB then select material column, now you can fill in the column with the materials you have in your materials list.

Hope this will do the job,
Greetz,
Johnny

Yes, I added the materials I wanted to the materials list and made a cloumn
in the ipart author for materials.
I added one flavor to the materials list in the ipart author.
It now defaults to the material I added.
Now I have the materials I want but it only see the one.
Is it possible to get the materials to come up as a drop down when I am
choosing the diameter and the size?

Thanks

If you define the Materials column as a key (the 3rd key, I guess, in your
example), it will appear as a drop-down selection when you insert the iPart.

Bingo - I got it.
I just needed to add all the materials in that column at least once then
they would all show up in the drop down.
Sweet,

Thanks

Sorry, sent before I was actually done.
Al of the material types show up - but - it seems to be associated with a
size.
I.e. I can pick a material type from the drop down but it then defaults to a
particular size.
The quest continues.

Materials are treated like any other parameter in an iPart. For a given
combination of keys it gives you a specific material. If you wanted say a
1/4-20 x 1" bolt in both steel and stainless steel you'd need to make the
material column a key and make 2 instances of the 1/4-20 x 1" bolt (on in
carbon steel the other in SS).

I have a tutorial on this subject at my site.

Sean,
I came to that idea not too long ago and thought that AD would never make us
do multiple rows just to allow us to pick the material type.
I was hoping that something else could have been done and I just couldnt eke
it out.
Oh well,
I have to go now and copy 365 rows X 4 I may get some energy later on to do
something else with all my free time.

Thanks

you could probably open up the table in spreadsheet format and copy that
way. Definitely easier.

Thats what I did end up doing.
There must be a better way to assign materials to iparts.

Thanks

Nope. That's how it works.
