Center of Gravity Triad won't disappear in assembly mode

Hi,

I'm working on an assembly, and I can't figure out how to turn this damned center of gravity triad off.  When I double click on the part to go to the part creation mode, the COG triad disappears, but when I go back into assembly mode, it comes back.  Pressing the COG button under the view tab has no effect.

Help?

Can you attach the assembly here?

Have you installed the Service Pack and Updates?

I really don't like putting my assemblies out in the public sphere.

I'll try installing the updates and service pack and see if that helps.  If not, I'll upload my assembly.

Updating didn't help.  The size of my assembly exceeded the file size limit, so I only attached the assembly file and the klein bottle part file.  Thanks!

The problem isn't in your assembly - it is in your part file.

Open the part file and go to Manage tab and click Rebuild All.

Sketch16 is sick.

I don't know what is going on with Fillet6 as it appears in the model but is gray in the browser.

I suspect the problem originates in this sharp point in Revolve1.

You end up getting rid of it later, so might be best not to create it at all.

I would be concerned that out to some number of decimal places that spline crosses over the axis of rotation.  Something like that.

I rebuilt it, and the model screwed up.  It's attached.

How are you able to tell where these problems are?

Whoops, now it's attached.

You were right!  I turned that gradual intersection into a perpendicular intersection, and when I finished that sketch, an error indicating a problem with sketch 16 popped up.  I deleted the problem curve on sketch 16, and when I rebuilt the model, it didn't mess up!

But the Triad is still there.  LOL.

I wager that there are other errors.

Are there still features in the browser with gray icons?

Frankly, on something this simple I would have started over from scratch.

Just about all of the icons are grayed out.  Does a grayed out icon mean that the feature is built on an error?

A screenshot is attached.

I made a few changes to your design (see attached).

Okay, you've convinced me that I need to rebuild it.  I really don't have the time, but it's better that I learn to do this right.

But of course, I'm running into problems that I don't understand, even at the first revolve.  To locate the problem area, I split the revolve into multiple parts, and I've localized the problem to the section which also contains the rightmost spline control vertex, which is also the fourth area from the right.  If you could help me determine what problem Inventor has with this section, thus allowing me to escape the usual frustration that I encounter when working with this software, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Nevermind, I found the problem.  It was the line on the left side of htat section.  I don't know why Inventor had a problem with that particular line, but when I replaced it, the problem disappeared.

I would use Construction lines for anything that is not a object line.

You can right click on a sketch curve and select Construction to toggle it to construction line type.

In the example that I posted you can delete all of the features and the sketches to create the geometry remain and do not turn sick.

I created all of the sketches before creating any solid geometry.

Hi! This is another case showing the visible COG triad. If you know how to reproduce it from scratch, please let me know asap. It will be very helpful to finding a fix.

Many thanks!

Has this ever been resolved? I have a customer where it is happening on their PC, but when I open the Pack N Go on my PC it's fine.

Hi All

have the same problem with the attached file. Once imported into an assy it shows the COG and it can't be hidden in assy mode.

Thank you Paul!

Sorry, I should have specified. I got past the issue. By reading the previous feed I realised that the software dosen't like something in one of the sketches and I rebuilt the sketches from scratch in a new file. It took me 2 minutes but it worked. I was just tring to understand what causes the problems to be able to fix it if it will ocure again, possibly in far more complex model.

Thanks again!

ALEX
