Cannot specify M13 x 1 Metric Thread

I'm trying to apply an M13 x 1 Thread on a 13mm O.D. cylinder but the strangest thing is that there is no M13 thread available in the drop down (seems to skip from 12 to 14). It defaults to an M14.  Does anyone know why this is?

Hi,

You can add a custom thread type. Its easy!

The Thread.xls file, which is located in the Design Data folder, provides data for hole and thread commands.

The Thread.xls spreadsheet contains various worksheets in one of two formats: Parallel Thread Type or Taper Thread Type. The worksheets contain some common industry standard thread types and standard tapped hole sizes. You can edit the worksheets to:

  • Change the sort order.
  • Revise custom thread designations.
  • Revise custom thread type names.
  • Add a custom thread type or clearance hole type.

Always back-up your copy of Threads.xls before editing.

The solution is simple.

When the "Thread" dialog pops up, select the cylinder surface then apply - the job is done.

See the attachment.

Edit: Because the "thread" is an image not a solid - nobody can measure the M13x1 thread on the model.

Please mark "Accept as Solution" and "Like" if my reply resolves the issue and it will help when others need helps.

A circle is the locus of a cursor, starting and ending at the same point on a plane in model space or in layout such that its distance from a given coordinates (X,Y) is always constant.
