Cannot modify the library

Hi everybody

Now with inventor R6, in assembly mode, we can not edit or modify a part
from our library search path. With 5.3 release we were able to make those
changes. Does anybody knows what we can do to modify and save the
modifications?

Thanks.

See posts preceding this one on the same subject and in the
Autodesk.Inventor.support read only newsgroup.

This is as designed to protect the integrety of standard parts. To modify a
library part, create a new project just for that purpose.

The approach Autodewsk have taken with R6 is that libraries contain
parts that don't get modified. It makes sense if you think about it.

If you need to modify parts in these directories, create a project file
that defines these paths as something other than Library.

Another approach would be to use the Default project and browse to the file
you need to edit. As long as you use a project that does not define that
part as being in one the library paths you should be able to edit it.
