Can you lock a Level of Detail?

I am creating a large assembly that will contain many level of details. When I complete a "section" of components, I create a LOD for just that section (all other components suppressed). However, all the components I add after that LOD has been created are added to that LOD. I would like all additional components to be automatically suppressed, unless I have that LOD active. Is there any way to do this?

Without this ability, I have to activate each previous LOD one at a time and suppress all new components. This can be quite time consuming. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello Scott,

Currently Inventor does not allow locking LODs, however we have this on our radar for a
future release.

One recommendation is to build Design Views that represent your LODs, and lock them. You
can then use the command "Copy to LOD" to build them. A manual step, yes, but it allows
you to build the LODs relatively quickly.

Thanks for the response, Peter. If I build these design views to represent my LOD's, will the new parts added simply be not visible then? I am concerned about performance with these parts, as each LOD could have between 1500 and 4000 parts and there may 20+ LOD's. Therefore, I would rather the parts not included in the LOD to be suppressed rather than not visible. Maybe I'm wrong in my assumption here? I guess I could just go try it!!!

Thanks again for your suggestion!
