Can you do this in Inventor?

While going through some Gibbscam training the reseller was showing us some
screen shots of the next version of Gibbscam. One of the things I thought
was kind of cool was that you could make the dialog boxes transparent so
that you could see your part behind the dialog box. Can you do this with
Inventor? I think it would be kind of nice feature. They said this was one
of the benefits of Windows XP.

Here is a link to their site that shows what I am talking about.

http://www.gibbscam.com then click on news, and then more info. You can then
click on the picture for a higher quality image.

Some of the menubars and I think the command line in AutoCAD 2K4 are also
able to have the transparency adjusted.

I think it's one of the features with nVida drivers: nView or something like
that.

While this looks quite cool, this newsgroup has been quite clear that
these types of gimmicks are not what customers want Autodesk working on.
Besides, the transparency will cause quite a bit of flicker when used
with opengl 3d graphics windows. As an example AutoCAD 2004 disables the
transparency if you are using hardware acceleration.

Thanks, Kevin, for putting this in a right perspective.

But then in Inventor you have the little pin on the windows you can activate
to have the window roll-up when you don't need it. The effect would be sort
of the same wouldn't it?

The little pin next to the cross on the top-right you can use to close a
window. It's new in IV6.

not in the browser window, but in the dialog boxes such as the place
constraint etc.

It looks like a little thumb tac; to the left of the X close button in the
upper right hand side of the box.

I once saw an Autodesk demo, and he had these little roll-up pins or bobbins
in his browser and panel bars. I've often wondered how that was done.
