The backstory: one of our drafters who is relatively new to inventor created a frame with the files in the wrong locations and naming scheme, and now when we try to place new frame members onto the edited sketch, we get
[WARNING] Frame Generator: Errors occurred during inserting Frame Member(s)
[WARNING] Insertion of frame member(s) failed
[ERROR] A frame member could not be created. The reason for the failure is unknown. Please retry.
Unfortunately I've also noticed that the Skeleton file that inventor asks you to generate at the start of the process is missing, and the "Frame Reference Model" is no longer aligned with the frame itself.
Is there any way to go about fixing this, or do I have to rengerate his entire frame?
F-G needs the sketch to generate it's members. So each time the assembly is open, it re-creates the members based on the sketch since they are adaptive to and controled by the sketch.
Possibly, try loading the model from his machine and project file he was using. You might be able to located the master sketch file. If not, then the start over from scratch would be the alternative.

I figured that was going to be the case, but I was hoping there would be a way to recover the file. It's too bad that inventor doesn't have a "rebuild" feature for screwed up frames. Could save a lot of work in case something goes wrong.
It does have the "Old-Versions" folder in your work directory. You might find an old version of the file there. You will have to rename it to get ride of the version tag. The problem is that each time the model is loaded or a Rebuild is done, all the adaptive parts (frame gen items) are rebuilt based on the control sketch. Since the control sketch is the sweep path for the F-G items, if it's missing, the sweeps to generate the F-G items can't be performed.
