It's not an issue of buying a seperate card, the two laptops I'm looking at only allow those 2 card options

I believe I have that nVidia card in my Toshiba
Satellite Laptop.  It seems to work fine out of the box with Inventor,
BUT I haven't used it extensively, on large assemblies, or with multiple windows
open, yet.

The card vendors and the system vendors had not
targeted these cards for the CAD market.  Hence we do not have access to
them for testing. If you can arrange a test system for a few days, try the
Geforce. as per our graphics we page, try SwapType = 4, Workarounds = 0. Things
will slow done after some number of windows are open (I expect about 10,
depending on screen resolution),  It should be reasonable.  However
Nvidia will not fix any driver problems that you have.

The Dell M60 is designed for the CAD market and
supported. It also supports 2GB of memory in the laptop. It is a wide screen
format and very nice.

I have a toshiba laptop with the older nivdia geforce go chip and it
works pretty good on small parts in inventor. It has its limitations
(don't open all your parts at once & dont make really big assemblies).
If you need to get by on a mobile platform it will work ok though.
After all, we all can't afford that new $3000 Dell M60 laptop that is
about the only one currently on the market with the nice new Inventor
approved FX Quadro GO chip in it.

I assume you are talking laptops.  I have the Radeon
9000.  It is not a very good card, but the only reason I bought the laptop
is that the hardware is so quick that it sort of makes up for the (Edited)
card.  I have read other posts and you claim that some of your friends are
running Alienware laptops with this card and are happy with it.  Can you
find out what driver versions they have and perhaps where to download
from?

There are a batch of laptops which have just been released
which feature the 9600 card and an 800 MHz FSB.  Why not look at
those?   Which laptop are you considering with the nVidia
card?
