Can't find a way to open "Curvature settings" dialog box

Hi, I've a problem.

I can't find the "Curvature settings" dialog box. Selecting and right-clicking the spline in scketch mode I don't find "Setup Curvature Display" command in the menu. Also, if I click on "Display Curvature" I can't see the curvature itself.

I'm doing something wrong?

I attached the .part file. The probem is related to the spline of Sketch2.

It is broken in r2014.

This looks like a bug (I mean issue) in 2014.

My version: Autodesk Inventor Professional 2014 64 bit, build 270, release 2014 RTM Update 2.

Is there a patch to fix it?

An 'issue' that only affects some machines.

Also running Windows 7 64bit and Inventor 2014 Update 2.  I did notice that the curvature comb vanished when zooming out.  De-select/re-select "display curvature" brought it straight back though.

I don't see the curvature comb setting box anywhere in your screen shot (the topic of this thread).

Show screen capture with evidence that this only effects "some machines".

There are multiple issues.

1. the settings box is not on right mouse button as in previous releases

2. the curvature comb appears and disappears as you indicate

Looks like we both only answered half the question.

Screenshot provided addresses the "...I can't see the curvature itself" part of the OP.

"It's broken" as an answer to both problems was not accurate - I took that to mean you couldn't see the comb.

Agreed: Settings box is missing from context menu.

What is your definition of broken?  The fact that the comb appears and disappears on zoom is broken functionality in my opinion.

I spent about 20 minutes on this one on side-by-side machines, one running 2013 and the other 2014 before I pronounced the feature as "broken".

Our classes start in about 19 days and we need to create the image for our hundreds of machines now.  This is a serious issue for our surfacing class.  Once the image is ghosted our machines are set - we can't change "working" set-ups in the middle of the semester.

My definition of broken?  I define "broken" as an opportunity to fix.

(Sorry - hit "post" without finishing -will post the fix in a minute.)

Yes JD - I agree that the function is missing from the right click menu and that the graphics are not as good as they  were in 2013.  If you haven't already logged it with Autodesk, then I will.  But for your classes - I doubt it'll get fixed in time, so here's how I un-broke it.  (Not teaching you to suck-eggs here - just posting for anyone else reading this thread who may not have customised the marking menus.)

Tools > Customize > Marking menu tab.

Select Environment = 2D Sketch

Sub-Environment = Spline

Select the blank entry at between Delete & Construction (or wherever you want the function to appear)

In the "Search Command" box enter "modi" to find "Modify Curvature"..

Select "Modify Curvature" and it appears in the selected spot.

Right-clicking on a spline gives this:

You do need to hit "Apply" in the "Curvature Settings" dialog box to re-display the comb.  It is not dynamic like 2013.

At least this is only an inspection tool and not a geometry creation tool.

Still, it looks bad because we always do the same operations in multiple MCAD softwares.

I guess we will look at this as an opportunity in customizing the interface.

Summary:

1) Issue: "Curvature settings" dialog box display. Solution: add "Modify curvature" command using customization of circular right-click menu.

2) Issue: bad curvature graphics display. Solution: none.

A couple of details:

I noticed that, tuning the scale of curvature graphics, the "dynamic" display works well while the continuous curve that links all the curvature spines lies out of the graphics window. Otherwise, when the spines curve lies into graphics window the curvature graphics disappears. Pushing "Apply" button at small spines scale will not bring it back on the screen.

So, it seems there's something wrong with spines curve display.

Without this analysis tool making good surfaces it's very hard.

I reported the issue to Autodesk online Support, but other reports are welcome to have a faster release of the fix.

Thanks for your answers.

Hi! This issue has been fixed on the internal build. It should be available on the next coming update.

Thanks!
