Can't Dimension to Circle Edge

I am not able to dimension to a circle edge when adding a sketch to existing feature of part. It works fine when it is the first sketch of the part file, but not when it is a child sketch. I've attached images of both situations. Can anyone verify/duplicate this? This has been verified on two machines, one is Inventor 2013, the other is Inventor Pro 2013, SP 1.1. The feature that I am trying to sketch on is the face of a contour roll.

I am not at my Inventor computer, but have you

Project Geometry your first sketch into second sketch?

What if you just project the centerpoint and create new circle

or

what if you project circle as construction and create new circle with same centerpoint?

Post the file here.  Someone will probably be able to figure this out, but I can't tell what's going on from the images.

The default origin point is automatically projected, and nothing else needs to be projected. The sketch is constrained to the default origin, but cannot dimension to the edge of the circle. This seems like a bug, as there should be no limitations to dimensioning in any scenario, however, a workaround would be great until it gets fixed. Part is attached.

Create a point and constrain it to the circle. Dim to the point.

It's quicker for me to do that than try to get the correct glyph to show up.

Thats a good workaround, and not too painful. Although you shouldn't have to take that extra step each time you want to do that dimension, when in a base sketch, it works just fine. Or, another thing that would work is to have quadrant nodes built into arcs and circles to facilitate that type of selection easily. Thanks for the tip.

I was able to dimension the overall length of your slot sketch.  Not sure why on this particular sketch the "sweet spot" for the tangential glyph is so tiny, but it's there; just requires excellent fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.

My Motor skills are excellent, and my eye-hadn coordination is as well. That has nothing to do with it. However, since you were able to see the glyph and successfully dimension it, then there is something different. It seems that maybe it might be mouse related. What type of mouse are you using?

I have a wireless logitech M705, which has never given me an issue, and another computer this was attempted on has a wireless mouse as well. I plugged in a usb corded mouse, which did not produce any different results. What else might be different?

I tried zooming in as far as possible, then zooming out, but the results were the same.

I'm using a seven year old Logitech wireless trackball (T-RA18), with no special drivers installed.

As I wrote earlier, for some reason this part and sketch make it really ticklish to find that spot-- I had to swipe back and forth several times to find it.  That's one advantage of the trackball, though-- once I find the spot, I can click it without accidentally moving the cursor in the process.
