Can not edit degrees of freedom (dof) after playing simulation.

I am not able to edit degrees of freedom (dof) after playing a simulation.

I am new to dymamic simulation, so maybe this I am overlooking something basic.

This is what I did:

  1. Created a dynamic simulation and imposed motion on a prismatic joint.
  2. Edit dof and Input Grapher before playing the simulation.
  3. Play the simulation.
  4. After playing simulation for first time, dof and Input Grapher are dimmed (grayed out) and can not be edited.

Here are screen shots of the dimmed dof and Input Grapher:

am using Inventor 2012.

A simple example is attached.

Have you gone through the Tutorials?

Have you gone through the Wasim Younis book?

You must always return to Construction Mode to make changes.

Thanks JDMather. I was working the Dynamic Simulation - Part 1 tutorial when I got stuck on this very issue. The tutorial says "Click the Construction Mode command to leave the simulation run mode" but I didn't understand why.

I didn't know about the Wasim Younis book, thanks for the tip.
