Can anybody convert this .stp file to a .dwg file?

I'm trying to figure out how to convert this 3d .stp file into a .dwg file so I can put it into my autocad drawing. I don't have any software that will open it but I've read all over that it can be done if you have the right program.

Can anybody help me?

my e-mail is doug@dycadd.com

You never stated what version of AutoCAD.
If not 2010 you will also need to download DWG True View or whatever it is called.

if you have AutoCAD Mechanical installed which came with Inventor, you
could type "stepin" (even in just AutoCAD) to bring it into a dwg.

>any suggestions

Applications>AEC Exchange>Save as DWG Solids in Inventor 2009. (assuming the STEP file was opened with the correct Options and passes Inventor Quality Check)

you can do this with Inventor 2009:
Open the step file in Inventor
Then go to AEC Exchange (Applications > AEC Exchange, I think. can't recall for certain in 2009)
use "Save As DWG Solids"
Specify the DWG version in the Save as type drop-down.
Specify the location in the Save in drop-down and the file name in the File name field.
Click Save to create the file

note that this creates a 3d solid in acad that is "wrapped" in a block (at least for assemblies). so you might want to explode it once to remove the block and have just solids, ready for editing, etc.

Fusion 360 is free to most users.

You could also download a trial of Inventor (or Fusion).
