Broken View

I create a section from an assembly. Then I want to add break lines and take out the centre part of the section view. As soon as I do this Inventor takes my assembly and cuts out the middle where I have applied the break lines.
Is there a way I can stop this from happening?

I had a weird experience trying to create a broken view also. In my drawing, I had a base view (View1) and a project view (View2) off of that base view. I created a section view from the projected view (View2). Then, I tried to create a broken view on the section view. However, whenever I tried the broken view, elements disappeared from the original base view (View1). View2 seemed to be unaffected. Ballons and dimensions that I had used to annotate View1 then turned that pretty shade of magenta. So, I kept undoing all the broken view stuff and eventually just gave up on it. I had to get the drawing out the door. Frustrating to say the least. Blane
