Broken view or Detail view?

Hi all,

I have a very long vessel (40 feet long, 102 inches in diameter), and I only
want to show the most left side of the vessel in my idw.
But when I use the Broken View option, I can "cut-away" only the middle
section, but I also want the most right side to be non-visible. Can this be
done directly with a Broken View?

If not, I will endup turning-off the visibility of the contents of my
assembly (with Show Contents and Show WorkFeatures).

Option nr. two would be making a rectangular detail view of the assembly,
but than all my dims would be gone.

Who has some experience?

Thanks in advance,

T.

One way you could do it is to create a base view of the full vessel. Then
use detail view to create the required view of the one end (RMB to select
the rectangular fence). Then finally move the base view onto a different
sheet which you can set to not print or count.

Best regards

Jerry Bishop

Hi Jerry,

You perfectly described my "nr. 2 option", making a detail view of the
assembly. But than all my dims would be lost (and I am using Ordinate
dimensions with the origin in the part that needs to be invisible)!!!

Same counts for a "Break-Out View" with a depth of 0. All the dims will be
lost.

The Broken View should be enhanced, so you can decide wich parts/side should
be visible. Is this already in R7? I do hope so...

But thanks for the quick reply!

I Have not done this and I do not have IV here at home. Can you edit the break and make the gap between sections very long. Now move the the view so the right end is not on the sheet.
