BOM extraction

It was my understanding that releases after 5.3 would have the functionality to export a FULL BOM. By FULL i mean, ALL the parts in the assembly - NOT just the first level. I am fully aware of BOM-Xtractor - i use it but would prefer the functionality in the software (where it belongs). So, have I missed a button or something?? Can IV7 pop out a FULL BOM.... or what?

When placing the bom, select First-Level Components, then edit the partslist and click on
the + sign next to the assemblies to expand them in the Part list.

According to the online help:

If no parts are selected when you create
the bill of materials, it
includes all the parts in the assembly. To create a partial
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #8d8961">bill
of materials, select the parts in
the browser or graphic area before creating the
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #8d8961">bill
of materials.

Note: To
include the parts in subassemblies, expand the subassemblies in the browser
before creating the bill of
materials.

I have never found this to work as stated. To get a full BOM
you have to highlight every single part in the browser. Be careful when using
shift-select to get them all, this doesn't get parts that reside in a
pattern.

Hi!

Previously i could do this: When .iam opened, select Edit-> Find. There you
have text "Files of Type" activated. Press "Delete Line"-button. Then
select From "Property:" dropdownlist for examble "Author". and make sure in
"Condition" dropdownlist is text "any value". Press "Add to list" button.
Then press "Find Now". So you are selecting all possible documents and
files including your .iam. Then without clicking anywhere in graphics area
select Tools-> Bill of materials.. In inv 5.3 all sp:s and inv6 sp1 to sp2
this routine works fine, inv 6 sp0 crashes, but in inv 7 the behaviour is
quite strange! I can't select, via Find-command, parts or assemblies, that
are part of component pattern! Please Autodesk, do not fix tools that are
working all right!
