Someone posted about this a few weeks ago and I believe the answer was Inventor does not support exporting the thumbnails.

I also have being looking for a way to publish thumbnails on my BOM's.

This is the procedure I use,
Export bom to excel,
Save a copy of each part file as jpg.
Insert the excel file into word as a table.
Paste the jpg's in appropriate cells.

Good Day Raider_007

It seems that the Bom export tool in this link : http://www.mediafire.com/file/dojmt68232pvx25/Inv%20BOM%20Tools.rar

is Invalid or Deleted File. can you send me another link or a copy of this software?

It could be a big help for us

THANK YOU

Hi yes the tool will work with Inventor 2012 and 2013. It looks like your Inventor did not register properly with Windows. This might sometimes happen because you did not install or run Inventor with a user account with enough rights or with UAC on. There are a lot of posts about this on the net but here is one as well: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/restricted-user-Inventor-2012/td-p/3080748

I would say try run Inventor "As Administrator" first and then try the command prompt method with the /install switch. Let me know if you don’t come right.

Here's another free addon. It exports to word though.
