BOM - Advanced tricks, tips and strategies

Hi to all,

 

i would like to collect in one topic, with the help of you all, all the tips, tricks and effective procedures to use in the whole ambit of the BOM (creation, manage, drawing part lists, etc..all).

 

Differents strategies, different workflows and ideas that will adapt best to different manufacturing industry fields.

(Also things for granted, maybe they are not granted for all! )

Good idea.

First thing that comes to mind:
When you want to change the type of BOM on a drawing, structured <> parts only, make sure you delete all part lists and balloons.
If either one is still present you can't change it.

In AssemblyX If you set the BOM Structure occurance of a part/subassembly to "Reference" then the part/subassembly appears as reference in the BOM of AssemblyX only. 

 

If you change the BOM structure of the part/subassembly to reference in the Bill OF Materials windows the part will appear as reference in ALL assemblies.
