Bolted Connection for a Cylinder

Hey guys, I have been trying to get the Bolted Connection to work on a cylindrical object but with each option (concentric, linear, etc.) asks for a start plane and a cylinder doesn't have a flat plane. I have tried creating a plane but Bolted Connection doesn't recognize it. Does anyone know of a way to get Bolted Connection to work on a cylinder?

I have attached a cylinder.

I am using Inventor 2014.

Try creating a flat work plane tangent and at the correct angle with your sketch and center points for the holes would be the only way I can think of. I usually just create the holes this way and place my fasteners manually.

thanks for the suggestion, I have tried that already but the Bolted Connection application doesn't recognize the plane.
